Colors of the Year (so far)

Staff

"The best color in the whole world is the one that looks good on you." - Coco Chanel.

Coco, we agree with you and believe the same goes for our home. 2024 is here, and it's a perfect time to talk about the colors of the year (COTY).

2023 found us inspired by palettes of warm hues and earthy neutrals, beckoning us to engage with our creative side. This year, we'll sing the (happy) blues and continue our quest to connect with nature through soft blacks, lustrous peaches, and rich olive greens. Ready to start the year with a refresh? Check out our list of the "IT" colors for 2024.

Blue Nova 825 by Benjamin Moore

Think adventure. Inspiration. The great blue (and beyond) - all from the comfort of your home. Although quite a change from last year's Raspberry Blush, the bold and beautiful Blue Nova 825 is certain to find its way into your heart. "We are still seeing designers being brave with color," says Andrea Magno, Moore's Color Marketing and Development Director. 'As though a souvenir from far-off travels, people are looking to bring color into their home, and we want to continue that thread." It may be the perfect time to pack our bags!

Peach Fuzz 13-1023 by Pantone

A delicate tone of pale orange, the Pantone COTY expresses "our desire to want to be close to those we love and the joy we get when allowing ourselves to tune into who we are and just savor a moment of quiet time alone," said Laurie Pressman, Vice President Pantone Color Institute. In a world where we are in a constant state of go-go-go and go some more, who doesn't need to take time out and enjoy the calm, the sweetness of life (and peach fuzz)? Count us in!

Persimmon by HGTV Sherwin Williams

Available exclusively at Lowe's, Persimmon is the star of the show in The Renewed Comfort Color Collection, offering a down-to-earth, kick-your-shoes-off-and-relax shade of terracotta. Refreshing and uplifting, Persimmon is easily paired with the entire HGTVSW palette, including Oakmoss and Cyberspace. "The shades in our 2024 Color Collection of the Year feel familiar and dependable, yet versatile, with the ability to be reshuffled to create a custom look for your home, "said Ashley Banbury, Sherwin Williams Color Marketing Manager.

Renew Blue by Valspar

Whether you use it indoors or outside, this simple, understated gray sea-green will bring a smile to your face. Sold exclusively at Lowe's, Renew Blue , "is an incredibly versatile and all-season shade that anyone can envision in their space. Blue is classic shade that has become the new neutral for today's home and can be mixed and matched to fit a variety of design styles and applications," said Sue Kim, Valspar Director of Color Marketing. Pair it with Perfect Backdrop 8005-8B or Dusk in the Valley - 8004-3B for a coastal vibe.

Bluebird by Krylon

Taking flight into pure joy. That's how we describe Krylon's Bluebird. Think oceans, lakes, and skies. Oh. My. We can't get enough of this brilliant, jaw-dropping blue. "Bluebird evokes joy and contentment within a space, embracing customer desire for 'dopamine decor.' Bluebird is a welcoming color that harmonizes effortlessly with warm and cool shades and facilitates a balance in pairing accent colors, vintage furnishings, and modern elements. Its soft yet sophisticated tone pushes the boundaries of transformation that pale shades can achieve on a wide range of materials," said Ashley Banbury, Kyrlon's Color Marketing Manager.

Limitless by Glidden

Call it neutral. Call it serene. Call it "boujee beige." But whatever you do, don't call it yellow. With warmer tones making a huge comeback, this dreamy color is perfect as an accent color or standing all on its own. Ideas for pairing include cabin fever, night rendezvous, and sweet spiceberry. "This modern neutral is as adaptable as its name implies and is taking the place of cool neutral tones that are so last year," said Ashley McCollum, PPG expert, Glidden Brand. "With the selection of limitless, gray is officially canceled. What can we say - warm neutrals just hit different." See ya later, grays - this year we are limitless!

Cracked Pepper by Behr

Ready to make a statement? We love this soft and muted black that still packs a huge punch. Sold exclusively at Home Depot, Cracked Pepper is the perfect choice whether your style is retro, modern, sophisticated, or casual. According to Behr's research, more than half of Americans (54%) say black tones in the home create a new energy and vibe. "As we look into 2024, creating a sense of comfort and belonging will continue to drive design decisions - but now, as life returns to its more familiar rhythms, it's time to allow our sense to come alive," says Erika Woelfel, Vice President of Color and Creative Services at Behr Paint Company. Not sure about you, but we are ready to take a walk on the dark side.

Ironside by Dutch Boy

A versatile deep olive that provides a powerful foundation for the embrace, retreat, and inspire palettes, this one-coat paint is perfect for DIYers. Elegant and charming with a bit of a woodsy feel, Ironside continues the trend of darker colors in the home. "We're taking a comfortable approach; embracing restoration and nature, while bringing harmony into the home, "said Michelle Bangs, senior brand manager at Dutch Boy Paints.
